RICKY EMMERTON[email protected]
work located at North Sydney
Through my work, I can reconnect to my culture and acknowledge my ancestors. Jesus is a link between different cultures. In the Kalkadoon tribe we use the ‘X’ symbol to represent two rivers crossing, or two cultures crossing. They meet, exchange and go on their separate paths. The work aims to show Jesus as both Heavenly and Earthly.
Ricky Emmerton is from the Kalkadoon people of North West Queensland. He has exhibited his work throughout Australia and overseas. Moving to Penrith to study fine art, he had his first solo show at the Penrith Regional Gallery and the Lewers Bequest in Emu Plains. Emmerton works with his own acrylic paints which he creates using oxide powder, binder medium, and other acrylic paints.
