My work combines both history and popular culture in a celebration of the different beliefs and faiths in our modern society. I believe ‘Superman’ is an image that people picture when they think of Jesus. The use of the Mexican Day of the Dead imagery is a reference to the death of people’s beliefs.
Matt Winch is a Sydney–based illustrator and photographer in his final year at the National Art School. Over the past 3 years Winch’s illustrations have been published in numerous Australian and international publications. His large scale wall murals can also be found around Sydney and Perth. He is currently in preparation for his first solo photography exhibition later this year.
